Russian Airline Fined for Overbooking

The Novosibirsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office identified violations of consumer rights related to aviation services by S7 Airlines (Siberia Airlines) following complaints from citizens.

According to the statement, in July of this year at Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo) International Airport, 11 passengers planning to travel to Vladivostok and Adler were denied boarding because the number of passengers exceeded the number of available seats on S7 Airlines flights. Since the company failed to take any action to assist these passengers, the prosecutor’s office imposed an administrative fine of 30,000 rubles (approximately 16,000 TRY) on the airline.
